Single Premium Whole Life (SPLI) Advantages

Single premium whole life insurance, usually called SPLI, has become a more popular option for those who want retirement life coverage. Instead of making monthly premium payments, over a period of decades, you simply give the insurer one big payment at the start. This might seem like an odd way to buy coverage, but it has advantages for some people.

Why Buy Life Insurance With One Single Premium?

Since this is a different way of doing things, you may need single premium life insurance explained in a way that everybody can understand.

Many people consider these single premium policies for retrirement. Single premium whole life insurance can give you lifetime insurance.SInce whole life policies may also build a cash value, once the actual insurance has been funded, you may also enjoy growth in your cash account.

So you can see the advantages. You can get a lifetime of life insurance. Your cash account should start growing quickly. These types of policies provide life insurance. They also can be a type of investment vehicle for you.

This way of buying insurance is not, of course, for everybody. There are a couple of disadvantages.

The Downside Of SPLI

The exact sum of money will depend upon several things. The amount of coverage you want, your age, and the insurer will affect the premiums. You will need to get insurance quotes to compare actual prices. But you will need a few thousand dollars, at the least, in order to start your policy.

You should also only consider a SPL policy is you can stay with it for the long term! You have to give up the use of your money for a few years. Single premium life only works if you have a substantial amount of money you will not need in the near future.

In the beginning, you may actually see your cash account drop from your initial investment minus the coverage costs because the insurer needs to regain its other costs. If you do need to withdraw your cash, you may also have to lose more money because of early surrender charges. Again, this should only be considered as a long term transaction.

Some policies may have clauses that will remove early withdrawal pentalties or surrender charges in the case of a serious illness. This allows you to use your policy as a sort of emergency fund in case you need money for medical bills or nursing care costs.

Since these are cash value policies, you may also be able to sell your insurance in a life settlement transaction. This could allow you to get more money than you have in the cash account.

A single premium life insurance policy could be a good alternative. If you have a sum of cash to fund the policy, can wait to collect on it, and would like a lifetime of coverage, it may be good for you. You may want to buy another type of coverage if you think you need to hold on to most of your money.

————————

Term Life For Older Seniors

Before you assume that only people can only buy whole life, make sure you have shopped the market. Many older people can still get great deals on term life for older people! It may be difficult for a seventy-two year old to find a thirty year term policy. But there are still plenty of companies that are eager to sell ten year policies to fairly healthy people (for their age). I have seen companies that offer policies up to age 75.

In fact, some brokers specialize in the senior market. So you may try shopping online, but if that doesn’t help you, look for a local insurance agent who specializes in finding term life for older clients.

There is also no doubt that term is a good deal. Since you are only paying for the insurance, and not any savings, rates should be lower when compared to other kinds of life policies. You must keep in mind, though, that the policy will expire after the term, and it may be tough or expensive to renew it!

Term may not be the right solution for you, so it is a good idea to examine your own needs, your budget, and then shop the market. But you can certainly find life insurance for older people from many of the top companies.

There is not doubt that you can get the most immediate bang for your buck by purchasing term over an alternative. Because it is temporary insurance, and because you are only paying for insurance, people can afford larger amounts of coverage for lower premiums. If you are looking for a larger face value (death benefit), and little else, term life rates will probably seem like a bargain!

Getting The Best Deal on Term Life

Here are some simple tips to make sure you get the best term life insurance rates.

If you are healthy, do not fear the medical exam. No medical exam term life is convenient, but you may qualify for much better rates if you purchase a fully underwritten policy. Learn more about no medical exam term life insurance.

Compare and save. Your rates will depend upon your age, health, lifestyle, and where you live. But different insurers are friendlier to different people. Be sure to compare multiple term life quotes. Our online quote forms make that pretty simple! You can visit here to find affordable US term life rates!

Decide what you want out of your policy. The cheapest rates may not always give you the best value. Additional riders (options) may give you more comprehensive coverage for a bit more money. Sometimes the cheapest purchase is not always the best bargain.

A good insurance agent can help. Our online quote forms will help you compare policies and prices at your computer, but also give you contact information for local insurance agents! Learn more about finding a good insurance agent.

Is term life the best bargain? That all depends upon your needs, budget, and financial goals. If you are not sure you understand the difference between term and other choices, refer to this article: Best Types of Life Insurance.

Are you interested in variable life insurance? This a popular, permanent type of life insurance that is similar to whole life in some ways. The big difference is that it has a separate cash account. The policy owner has more control over this investment feature because they can choose between a variety of financial products like mutual, equity, or investment funds. For more information, you may want to read this article – variable life insurance pros and cons.

Why Bother To Compare Variable Life Rates?

When the cash portion of a variable policy grows, it can even help pay the premiums. If it declines, and there is a risk, the premiums could get more expensive, or the death benefit could decline, and that may especially true for senior citizens variable life. As you know, older people are more likely to pay more for premiums.

So we want to minimize the risk as much as possible. That may simply mean finding bargain rates on the life insurance premiums. That means they will take up less of the cash account reserves, and will not cause as big of a bill if they have to be paid. As with all life insurance, rates will depend upon the insured person’s age, health, location, the amount of insurance, and the insurer.

You can compare and quote variable ife with our free online quote forms! This will help you find an affordable broker with bargain rates.

I think a lot of peope figure that term policies are pretty cheap, and so they just buy the first one they see advertised on TV or the web. But I would like to urge everybody to do some comparison shopping before they buy any type of insurance, and life policies are not an exception.

Take one example we quoted for a forty year old man. It was for a 20 year term life insurance policy with a death benefit of a hundred thousand dollars. We figured this would be a pretty standard case as the individual was healthy, and the face value was fairly small.

Imagine our surprise when we found a three hundred dollar a year difference between the lowest and highest quote. This was after we compared the top 10 life insurers in our area! That $300 a year multiplies out to $6,000 over 20 years. The price differences may not seem that large if you just look at monthly rates, but they can really add up over time!

Our fast and free life insurance quote forms only take about five minutes to complete. In return, you will get competitive policies and plans. You will also get the contact information for qualified insurance agents who want to do business with you.

Do You Understand Term Life?

What Is Term Life Insurance?

I have not run a scientific study, but I would have to assume that term life is the most popular kind of life policy today. I base this assumption on the fact that I see it advertised very frequently, and also because it is usually the most affordable type of life coverage on the market. Compared to other types of life insurance, term is usually a bargain if you just look at the cost of premiums.

What is Term Life?

It is purchased for a specific time period (term). Some common terms are 10, 20, or 30 years, though other lengths are sold too.

It is considered pure insurance, because the premiums usually only pay for coverage, and not for any cash value. Insurers have developed some hybrid products, but in general, this is true.

Once the policy term is over, coverage ends. Some policies have options to extend coverage or convert to permanent policies.

Because coverage is temporary, and because it is pure insurance with no cash or investment features, term rates are usually a lot cheaper than permanent (i.e. whole or universal) insurance premiums. People who only want to purchase coverage, and use other products to save or invest, should consider buying term life.

Some term policies come with extra options (riders) that make the policies more comprehensive, but also a bit more expensive. Some examples are critical illness, disability, and return of premium riders. It is a good idea to decide what you want out of your policy, how much you can afford to pay, and then shop around for the right policy!
